The Presidential Palace
The President of Poland’s Castle in Wisła was built between 1929 and 1930 on the site of a small wooden Habsburg hunting lodge from the early 20th century that had been destroyed by fire. It was a gift from the people of Silesia to the President of the Republic of Poland, Ignacy Mościcki, and his successors.
Efforts to return the Castle to the care of the President of Poland began as early as the early 1990s. Thanks to the support of local authorities and representatives from various sectors, these efforts were successful in 2002. At the initiative of Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski, a comprehensive renovation, maintenance, and modernization project was immediately launched to bring the castle up to the contemporary standards of the President of the Republic of Poland’s residence.
Tour itinerary:
The tour begins in downtown Wisła or at your accommodation (groups of 6 or more can book custom tours); we’ll drive through Wisła toward Wisła Czarne to the National Historic Complex, stopping along the way at the small dam in Wisła Czarne, the trout hatchery, and other sites…..
A tour of the interior of the Presidential Residence, known as the “Zamek Górny” – the vacation homes of the current presidents. Next to the castle is the Tyrolean Chapel, built in 1909 during the Habsburg era, which is open to visitors.
– On the way back, a stop and a walk along the Czerniańskie Lake dam, followed by a drive past the Adam Małysz Ski Jump.
